IPHONE DROPPED IN WATER – WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?

This site wants to give you a quick advice on how to use common sense if your apple Iphone dropped in water.

Your iphone dropped in water, don’t try to switch it on!
Leave it to dry first. If you attempt to start it, you will risk a short circuit.
The water inside acts as a conductor and the fragile parts might get destroyed if you turn it on to early.
Have patience!
If your Iphone dropped in water you got to be patient.
You will need to be opening Iphone’s SIM card slot.
Your Iphone dropped in water? Take the SIM card out!
Put it somewhere where you won’t loose it.
Some people suggest to open up the back of the phone and dry the insides with a Q-Tip. This way the internal moisture will be removed fast.
It’s up to you if you dare to disassemble your device… you ain’t got much to loose I’d say.
If you prefer not to unscrew anything then the rice method will help:
Tip: Putting it in a bag of rice will help to drag the moisture out!
There are also sachets filled with a substance called “silica” which absorbs moisture and water vapor.
You’ll find those little white packets in all kinds of purchased items these days.
If you got some of those that would be even better!
I find the rice to be a bit messy personally, so I would try to find some little bags of silica in old cardboard boxes.
If it was my Iphone dropped in water I would do so.
What I wouldn’t do is to blow the Iphone dropped in water with a hot hairdrier.
Some hairdriers can be switched to cold operation. Check out if your model is one of them.
If you use it like that, you don’t need to worry to boil the circuitry inside the iphone dropped in water.
Also don’t put it in the oven ! I once did that with an expensive Sennheiser microphone that dropped in water.
That was very silly of me. Why did I do that?
Please, do as I say, don’t do as I do.
